2 Arrested after assaulting employees, customer of Westfield Trumbull shopping center: Police – NBC Connecticut
Two men are accused of assaulting several people at Westfield Trumbull shopping center, police say.
Officials said Lorenzo Carter, 26, and Deonte Sayles, 25, of Bridgeport, were arrested after being charged with assaulting mall workers and a customer on Thursday.
Police said the incident started when an argument turned into a physical assault.
The men walked into a T-Mobile store and asked about a difference with a phone bill when one of the men, Carter, started yelling at the employee assisting them. Carter then walked around the counter and used both fists to punch the employee in the face and body, police said.
A second employee attempted to stop Carter when Sayles intervened and hit the second employee on the head, police said.
Officials said one of the employees was taken to hospital for treatment of a head injury.
As the men left the store, Carter is accused of approaching an elderly woman who was talking on her cell phone, grabbing it with her ear, pulling her hair and throwing the phone down the hall. The woman suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention, officials said.
The men fled the area but were apprehended by Trumbull police in the mall parking lot, where one of the men was reportedly confronted by police and resisted arrest, officials said.
No further information was immediately available.
