Dover man charged with committing a weapon and drug offenses
DOVER – Leroy Fleming, 39, of Dover, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon on charges of weapons and drugs following a traffic stop, police said.
Dover Police Spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said that at approximately 12:47 p.m. an officer observed Mr. Fleming driving a vehicle in the area of West Division Street and South New Street while using a cellular device without using hand-held equipment.
A traffic stop was carried out, police said, and after contacting Mr Fleming, officers detected the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A vehicle search located 200 grams of marijuana and a stolen .357 revolver, police said.
Mr. Fleming was taken into custody without incident.
Mr Fleming has been charged with possession offences, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a stolen firearm, with intent to deliver marijuana, a controlled substance in a level quantity 1 and paraphernalia of drug use, as well as carrying a concealed deadly weapon, driving a vehicle while using a cell phone. and failure to have insurance identification in possession.
After being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Mr Fleming was taken to Sussex Correctional Facility on $108,000 cash bond.
