The spacecraft is the sixth ‘ cell tower in space and is now able to become the first commercial cell tower in space. Lynk Tower 1 is the first satellite covered by Lynk’s application to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a worldwide commercial license to operate direct-dial telephone service via satellite.

Lynk Tower 1’s technology is an upgrade from Lynk’s fifth satellite, which connected to thousands of unique devices in fall 2021, including smartphones, feature phones and a myriad of IoT devices cell phones such as cars, trucks, iPads and John Deere tractors. . Lynk Tower 1 was designed and built at facilities in Lynk’s Falls Church, Virginia.
