Selected Board Officers
The Germantown School Board selected the board officers at the start of its April 25 meeting. Brian Medved will remain chairman of the board after being selected for the position last year. Amanda Reinemann was chosen as vice-chair of the board of directors; Michael Loth was chosen as treasurer while Tom Barney was chosen as clerk.
Lease-purchase Chromebooks and approved PC hardware
The Germantown School Board has approved a motion to lease Chromebooks and computer equipment for an amount not to exceed $353,856. The lease-purchase will be financed through a four-year lease with American Capital. According to information from district staff, starting last year, “Germantown has sought dollar buyout financing for Chromebooks instead of a fair market value lease to avoid future damage costs and to provide flexibility in the use of the device.
For this year, K-4 Chromebooks are being updated in addition to fifth- and ninth-grade replacements.
Purchased kindergarten furniture
The board approved a contract with Lakeshore Learning Materials to purchase 4-year-old kindergarten furniture at a cost not to exceed $73,000. The purchase will be funded by the Big Four-Year-Old Kindergarten Startup Program awarded to school districts that initiate such a program. The 4-year-old kindergarten program will begin in the Germantown district starting in the fall.
Cafeteria tables purchased for college
The board approved the purchase of 28 new cafeteria tables for Kennedy Middle School from Henricksen at a cost not to exceed $54,372. Henricksen was one of three companies to submit bids for the district. The funds will come from the food and nutrition budget and will replace the tables built in 2006.
Purchase of the approved oven
The council approved the purchase of a combi oven for the secondary school for an amount not to exceed $28,448.24. Three companies submitted bids, with Boelter, LLC submitting the lowest bid. Funds will come from the food and nutrition budget, and the oven will replace two heavy-duty combi ovens built in 2007 and 2010.
