Police: suspect crushes employee after using service in Palo Alto
PALO ALTO, Calif. (KRON) – A suspect has been arrested after Palo Alto police say he crushed an employee and stole his cell phone after a business dispute.
Police report that Juan Carlos Valdivia, 31, had an argument with an employee on September 24 at around 11:33 a.m. and refused to pay for a massage because the suspect’s credit card receipt did not reflect the amount of the tip that ‘he added.
Valdivia allegedly took hers and the shopkeeper’s and left the facility as the victim called her supervisor and attempted to pick them up as Valdivia got into her car.
Police said the suspect attempted to take the victim’s phone from him as he began to walk away. The victim tried to grab onto her phone, but fell and one of the rear wheels of the suspect’s vehicle crushed her as the suspect drove away.
The victim suffered serious injuries but is in stable condition.
The victim’s cell phone could not be found, and police believe the suspect managed to snatch it from her during the scuffle and is still missing after apprehending Valdivia.
Detectives found Valdivia on September 27 at around 1:30 p.m. near Block 2400 of Gellert Boulevard in southern San Francisco and arrested him.
Valdivia is convicted of felony assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and hit and run causing injury.
