Railroad worker killed as unidentified vehicle hits bicycle
An Indian Railways worker was killed in Lalru on Sunday after an unidentified vehicle hit his bicycle.
According to the police, the victim was identified as Rajpal, a resident of Panchkula. Rajpal worked with Indian Railways in Ambala.
Rajpal’s son, Ankit Kaushik, told police his father did not return home after finishing his work at his office on Saturday, after which the family began to actively search for Rajpal in nearby areas.
“We couldn’t find my father. His cell phone was also turned off. Looking for my father we reached Lalru where we found his bike on the main road. When we inquired about it with people, a dhaba owner told us that an unidentified vehicle had hit the motorbike and the motorcyclist had been seriously injured,” Ankit said in his complaint to the police.
After further verification, the family discovered that Rajpal had been admitted to Dera Bassi Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Following the complaint, Lalru Police filed a case against unidentified persons under Sections 304-A (death due to negligence), 279 (reckless driving) and 427 (mischief damage to property fifty rupees) of the Code Indian criminal.
