NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, August 3, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — To help prevent a blood shortage this summer, the American Red Cross, in partnership with creative agency MONO, part of Stagwell, has announced the launch of Drop For DropMTan innovative voluntary campaign designed to invite a new, younger generation of blood donors.
Partner with three legendary streetwear designers: Eric-EmmanuelNew York Sun and Warren Lotasthe Red Cross is offering exclusive access to limited-edition custom designs to those who come to donate blood at select blood drives in New York and Los Angeles.
“We are seeing a worrying decline in blood donations, leading to a drop in blood supply of almost 20% over the past few weeks. While the summer months have historically been a difficult time to engage donors – especially younger donors – the pandemic has caused a sharp drop in the number of donors between the ages of 18 and 24,” said Selma Bouhl, Vice President, Marketing Strategy and Creative Services, American Red Cross. “MONO came up with a creative idea for us that will resonate and motivate a whole new generation of blood donors by tapping into streetwear culture in an authentic and engaging way.”
“In our business, we don’t often get the opportunity to use our creativity and desire to bring unexpected ideas to our customers, while saving lives,” said Jim Scott, Founder and Managing Partner of MONO. “With the way Drop For Drop™ engages young people, via iconic designers across culture to reframe awareness around a vital social and health cause, we can literally do both.”
Blood donation appointments are available starting today and should fill up quickly with slots available for fans who were unable to book appointments online. Anyone interested in participating in the drive can visit redcross.org/drop to find details about blood drives.
