UP Govt seeks to promote products through foreign embassies
To transform Uttar Pradesh into a trillion dollar economy, the Yogi Adityanath government has embarked on a campaign to promote state products not only locally but also internationally by establishing communication with the embassies of various countries.
Exports have increased by 30%, from Rs 1.21 lakh crore to Rs 1.56 lakh crore, over the past five years. The government aims to boost exports to Rs 2 lakh crore over the next three years.
As part of an action plan aimed at promoting the export of products, a commission will be set up in each district under the chairmanship of the district magistrate to identify products with export potential. Fifteen sectors have been identified and prioritized to strengthen the State’s export strategy.
Key sectors include electronic and electrical equipment, machinery, vehicles and vehicle equipment, gemstones and jewelry, organic chemicals, steel and iron ware, garments (including sarees) , furniture, leather goods, sporting goods, glassware, perfumes, ceramic products. and handicrafts, among others.
District-level officials have been asked to create product linkages so that their exports get a boost. The list of activities includes exploring export potential at the district level, product competitiveness at all levels, providing maximum employment opportunities to people at the local level with less capital and minimum risk, construction of the necessary infrastructure as well as logistics and financing. create an environment conducive to exports.
In addition, the committees will also help solve local problems faced by exporters.
Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary, MSME, informed that communication is being established with Embassies of various countries to find out their needs and interest in the products. As a result, exporters are directly linked to international consumers and buyers. In addition, the participation of state exporting units is ensured in various international fairs and exhibitions.
Uttar Pradesh’s One District One Product program will play a crucial role in boosting exports. ODOP products will also be showcased at embassies of various countries in India and on e-commerce platforms to increase their visibility and marketability.
